[81] Give away 101 things that I do not need to charity
81. Give away 101 things that I do not need to charity
Previously, this was at 34 out of 101, but this weeks it’s shot right up by 48. 22 items of clothes, a few toys and an unwanted xmas present of a novelty lamp. I really don’t like novelty lamps, although I know some people collect them. (I espically don’t get ‘collecting’ novely lamps, but what the heck!) Anyways, we’re lucky where we live in Dublin. Every week or so someone drops in a sticker that you can attach to a bag to be sent off to chartiy. Different charities take a variety of things, some are clothes only, others toys, bria-a-brac, shoes, bed clothes.. you get the picture. I’m not sure if this service runs in other parts of Dublin? I know back home it was more hassle as you had to arrange everything and drive it to a bring-center. Things would usually end up getting tossed instead of repurposed. Not here, now it’s so easy to donate, all you have to do is make sure it’s in good nick, clean, and nicly folded into a big black bag. Heck, they wouldn’t even mind if you forgot about the nicly folded bit. So, after xmas there is always an excess of bits and bobs about the house, rather than stuff them into a hidy hole, or up into the attic never to be seen again, why not pop them in a plastic bag so that they can be rehomed somewhere they’re appreciated and the proceedes will go to charity. How good will that make you feel, not to mention how important it is to declutter. Go on, give something away =) [My current total 82/101]

Might be worth checking they’re real charities though, unless you don’t mind where your stuff ends up. Do you recognise the name? Do they provide a phone number? Do they answer if you call it?
Where we were living previously, we got regular stickers from one or two “charities”. Checked them out & they appear to be false. Careful reading of the leaflet also makes you realise that they don’t actually claim to be giving stuff/money - selling it & keeping the money would also fit the claims.
